GPT debuts PFC IC family towards a
complete modular approach
- Full version-
Rehovot, Israel, December 21 - Keeping its role as a global
player in the high-performance power management arena, Green Power
Technologies (GPT) announces the release of its innovative Power
Factor Correction IC GPTC110XX Series product family.
The family includes GPTC1101B, GPTC1102A and GPTC1103A
controllers. These controllers are the first step towards a complete
"Plug & Play" modular PFC product family. The new
products are introducing a revolution in the AC/DC market. GPT new
PFC products will allow Power Supply manufacturers to improve their
ability to offer their customers cost-effective products at higher
power density. The GPT method not only dramatically contributes to
the reduction of Power Supplies Time-To-Market but also offers a
major upgrade in product reliability, system stability and offers
wider system protection possibilities.
The EVBGPTC110XX Evaluation Board is available now. The
Evaluation Board enables a full range of testing for the new PFC IC
family, demonstrates its features and benefits over traditional
technologies.
The new product line is based on a unique, simplified control
method, which enables correction of total harmonic distortion
without sensing the input line voltage. The revolutionary method is
patented and robustly meets the EN61000-3-2 standard, over a wide
range of power. Implementation of GPT's products in the power factor
stage provides an optimized solution for a wide range of power
levels. A highly reliable, robust and efficient APFC front end can
be easily and quickly designed by just adding a few
components.
This unique APFC controller frees the designer from dealing with
control loops, compensation networks and greatly simplifies the PCB
design. Due to the smart control method, the circuit is able to
start up under full load conditions and providing unconditional
dynamic stability over a wide operating range. The integrated fast
over-voltage protection' over-current protection and over
temperature protection, provide high reliability even under rugged
operating conditions.
"These products are opening a new horizon in everything
related to compliance with the EN61000-3-2 standard," said
Eitan Cohen, Green Power Technologies CEO. "GPT's innovative
and patented control and packaging method enables stable operation,
reduces noisy input voltage and is the foundation for the simple
straightforward design of the PFC converter. Green Power
technologies Modular approach contributes to the 'smart power"
new trend in the power management market". "
One of our primary objectives is to free the designers from the
need to re-invent the wheel" added Prof. Sam Ben-Yaakov, Green
Power Technologies CTO. "GPT's line of products needs no
trimming tuning or tinkering. We figure that the designer has better
things to do then to wrestle with phase compensation
loops".
About Green Power Technologies Ltd.:
Green Power Technologies, established in Rehovot, Israel has
developed a complete product line based on its revolutionary
concepts. The implementation of its products in the power factor
stage provides a solution for a single-phase power range of 35w to
3.5kW. The GPT method of integrating the power switch, diode and
control circuitry enables a quick "Plug & Play"
implementation of a low-cost, unconditionally stable, robots PF
stage. Additionally, GPT offers a stand-alone CCM controller
packaged in a standard SOIC8 package. The PF Switch AssemblySeries packaged in a TO220/TO247 include both the
controller and power switch operating in Continuous Current Mode for
medium power levels of 100W - 650W and Critical Current Mode for low
power levels of 25W - 150W. The PF Switch Module
packaged in standard module packages include the controller, power
switch, power diode and internal auxiliary power supply are designed
to operate in Continues Current Mode for high power levels of 700W -
3500W. Green Power Technologies is a power management IC Company
that designs and develops Power Factor Correction products and power
management IC's for the power supply market. The company's patented
methods are the backbone of a technology that can revolutionize
traditional PFC solutions. GPT has implemented the first true
low-cost technology that enables economic APFC plug-and-play
solutions.
